A visit to the Dallas Arboretum can instill a deep and abiding appreciation for mother nature. It can also leave one feeling very full of good food and drink, and like one needs to have a lie-down. A selection of food, wine and spirits will be available for tasting as guests explore the Arboretum's Dallas Blooms gardens and mingle with chefs and winemakers as part of Savor the Arboretum. The cost is $70 for non-members. Proceeds benefit the educational department at the Arboretum.

The Bluebonnet Brew-Off is an annual home-brewing competition put together each year by area home-brewing clubs, and is sanctioned by the American Homebrewers Association (AHA). Each year, the competition sees about 1,000 entries and several hundred attendees who help judge the brews. This two-day event kicks off on Friday with a talk from the keynote speaker and People's Choice competition, while Saturday's lineup includes a six-hour pub crawl. The cost ranges from $30 (tasting glass only) to $40 (tasting glass and hors d'oeuvres).

There will also be Hello Kitty lines stretching Hello Kitty only knows how long, for which you will need to be Hello Kitty prepared, because this is going to be a Hello Kitty storm.
