What Do You Love About Your Home?

"An abode to shelter your family and fill with precious adornments- home is a place that holds what is most valuable."  Here are some things to have in your house that are great for ambiance and add great enjoyment for all those who visit:

Homemade Art- Somewhere in your house, display something that you or your kids made. A sculpture, a piece of art or furniture or a painted picture displayed is an opportunity to exhibit a unique creation.

Interactive Video Game- Who can’t resist Dance Dance Revolution or playing an instrument on Rock Band, and don’t forget all of the fun games on the Nintendo Wii. Play against each other and come up with some funny “win-win” wagers.

A cool kitchen appliance- Having at least one unique cooking appliance in your kitchen like a panini press, an espresso machine or an ice-cream maker is useful as well as entertaining for people to come over. A great conversation starter!

Coffee-table books- Interesting books to put on your coffee table. are sure to make for some interesting conversation. I like architectural books and modern art!

Bottles of wine- Buy a wine rack and stock it with several bottles of wine. They don’t have to be expensive; you can get decent wines for under $20. Consider joining a “Wine of the Month” club, as they’ll send you two bottles of great wine every month, usually for around $20 total.

A collage of photos- On a prominent wall, put up a collage of pictures. The collage as a whole should tell a story. Display pictures of places you’ve been around the world, such as you standing in front of the Roman Coliseum or you hiking the Grand Canyon. Also, somewhere in your house, be sure to put up pictures of your family.

A pet- A dog or a cat brings life to a home. If you’re not a dog or cat person, consider getting a fish tank.

A musical instrument- If you have musical talents this is a terrific way to share with an audience of house guests. If you aren’t musically talented, try something like bongos or learn how to play something you have always wanted to learn. I enjoy a good listening to the piano, it soothes my nerves.
